Good morning. Here’s the Outer Banks Beach, Surf & Fishing Report for Tuesday, April 24, 2012.
This video was shot at the Avalon Pier at 8:45 AM.
Pretty spring day. Sun, 60′s, and an offshore breeze out of the Southwest at 10 mph. Sun will stick around and temps will warm to the 70′s as we head to the weekend.
A pretty waist high wave coming through. The offshore wind is cleaning up the surf, but it will fade to knee high through the day.
OBX spring fishing is going strong. Good reports from the piers and the surf: blues, speckled trout, gray trout, croaker, flounder, puffers, sea mullet, shad. Offshore = yellowfin, blackfin, mahi, wahoo.

In this episode, I go down to the surf for the first time this year. I did not only go down for food and fun but for a tournament too called “The Big W”, a whiting tournament. I placed fourth in this tournament with a 1 pound 10 ounce whiting and the winner was a little over 2 pounds! In total I caught 5 pompano, 8 ladyfish, and 9 whiting. On this day I was walking along the beach towards my friends and before I reached them I already caught my limit so I released one striped bass then as soon as I reached some of my friends I hooked up right away again so I decided to call it a day,,,,Man,,,,on this day I only fished for about 15 minutes and released a fish and still left with my limit,,,,Haahaahaa”,,,,”ANOTHER GOOD DAY OF FISHING”,,,,”PEACE!!!

In this episode we go out early in the morning to catch some fish on the surf, we did better than expected. Rough waves and bad tide mad the day look like it was bad but you never argue with a full moon. First cast before the weight hit the bottom whiting was on! Then caught 2 other small ones and a 2 pounder! also managed to catch a small spotted seatrout, 2 hardhead catfish, and a nice 3 pound Black Drum!

Good morning. Here’s your Outer Banks Beach, Surf, & Fishing Report for Thursday, February 2, 2012.
This video was shot just south of the Avalon Pier at the 5th St. beach access in Kill Devil Hills at 9:00 AM.
Happy Ground Hog Day! Unfortunately, Mr. Phil saw his shadow this morning, so more winter on the way. But with a winter of sun and 60 degree temps, who can complain?!
Overcast and some showers to start today, but hopefully we’ll see the sun by the afternoon. 60 degrees and a light offshore breeze out of the southwest. Temps will cool to the low 50′s for the weekend, and the sun should stick around.
No surf to report. The ocean is flat. Swell will pick up tomorrow, but that’s only because the wind is going to switch to the northeast and kick up some wind swell. Could have some knee high longboard waves over the weekend, but nothing substantial.
OBX fishing is slow, but a couple ok reports. Good reports of tuna offshore. And in the not great but we’ll take what we can get category, word is there was a big school of speckled trout just north of the VA/OBX border yesterday. Fingers crossed that we see a good bite of something soon.

When Surf Fishing for Redfish “puppy Drum” off the North Carolina Beach’s make sure your gear is good to go. Watch my friend as he runs up the beach. The Redfish just stripped his gear out of his real! He ended up loosing the fish. I guess one out of two landed isn’t bad.
