I have fished bass for many years now and want to start fishing for pike as well. I have caught a pike or two while fishing for bass, and just wondering if I have to do anything differently to specifically fish for pike. Do they prefer deeper water? Bigger lures? Shiny lures?Do they bite in the morning, night? Or do I just keep fishing for bass, but use a steel leader.
Thanks for any help.

Hello you cant catch pike in many ways they are a preditor fish which is why you caught them bass fishing. You can use spinners, most work well big and small i use ones called spoons, large silver and shinney and pull them through the water fast. You can use dead baits on the bottom, herring are a good bait. You can attach a dead bait to the hook and reel it back fast and slow this will often temp a pike to take the bait.

Is april good for deep sea fishing in florida?
Will there be lots or little chance of catching a mahi-mahi in this month?

Yeah that’s a great time, the fish will be more active coming out of winter.. Mahi can be caught in all months of the year in florida but are even better to catch when it starts to warm up.. But it really depends on whether you can find them or not.. Troll ballywhoo, and keep an eye out for weed lines and birds.. If you find both, chances are your giong to find mahi with them.. Trolling will get you bigger mahi, and the weed lines will most likely bring schools.. They will bite almost anything, frozen shrimp, cut bait, live bait, DOA terror eyez.. If you run into a nice school, leave one fish on the line in the water and that will keep the school around the boat.. then start working other rods and bringing them in.. good luck! Should be good in April

One of those magic days on the water on the Reef. We even got 9 Nannygai’s on one drift. Phenomenal weather to top off an awesome day and some of the best reef fishing ever!! We had to leave the fish biting and filled the icebox in a couple of drifts. Insane Fishing most definately, and when these deep spots fire, some of the best reef fishing you’ll see. We left the fish biting and were well under Great Barrier Reef Marine park and fishery legislation.
The other folks scheduled to be on the boat with us cancelled. The skipper was unable to book anyone else and we were fortunate enough toe be able to keep our entire day’s catch of crab as those are generally split between the groups onboard.
Needless to say it was a VERY successful trip – so much that we were forced to purchase a new Extra Large cooler before making the journey from the coast back to Portland to share a fresh fish and crab dinner with the local relatives.
This video also serves as an unintended visual lesson on HOW TO clean Dungeness Crab prior to cooking! Also, a HOW TO fillet a fish quick and clean! Fishing out of Depoe Bay produces Ling Cod (Lingcod), Various Rockfish Sea Bass, Copper Rock, Sea Trout, Halibut, Salmon, Tuna, Cabezon, and more…
Advertised as “The World’s Smallest Harbor”, sometimes spelled; The World’s Smallest Harbour”

Good morning. Here’s your Outer Banks Beach, Surf, & Fishing Report for Thursday, February 2, 2012.

This video was shot just south of the Avalon Pier at the 5th St. beach access in Kill Devil Hills at 9:00 AM.

Happy Ground Hog Day! Unfortunately, Mr. Phil saw his shadow this morning, so more winter on the way. But with a winter of sun and 60 degree temps, who can complain?!

Overcast and some showers to start today, but hopefully we’ll see the sun by the afternoon. 60 degrees and a light offshore breeze out of the southwest. Temps will cool to the low 50′s for the weekend, and the sun should stick around.

No surf to report. The ocean is flat. Swell will pick up tomorrow, but that’s only because the wind is going to switch to the northeast and kick up some wind swell. Could have some knee high longboard waves over the weekend, but nothing substantial.

OBX fishing is slow, but a couple ok reports. Good reports of tuna offshore. And in the not great but we’ll take what we can get category, word is there was a big school of speckled trout just north of the VA/OBX border yesterday. Fingers crossed that we see a good bite of something soon.

Hope to see you soon. Have fun!
