Super Strike needles are noted for their ability to hold in rough water. Both sizes of this pattern are slow-sinking, so it is important to pick up the slack after a cast fairly quickly to avoid hang ups. With a moderate retrieve, the lure will ride high in the water column. Keep the rod tip up and retrieve fast enough to leave an enticing "V" wake. Several anglers that I know who are quite proficient with the Super Strike needles claim that a faster retrieve works better. It is important to try variations on a straight retrieve - like changing speed and occasionally twitching the rod tip.
