This beauty of a dolphin (mahi-mahi) was caught just a few miles of the coast of Miami – Miami Beach. It was in December and it was FREEEEEZING out but we still had a great time and caught a great fish. The colors of this fish just pop against the charter boat and the South Florida sky.

I would appreciate suggestions on colors, size, types (spoons, plugs, etc), top water, diving…Thanks!
I live in Maryland and have surf fished here my entire life. There are very few lures that will work if you are surf fishing. Surf fishing in this area is done 99% of the time with some type of live cut bait, shinners (minnows)cut squid, grass shrimp, sml crabs. Because of the waves and strong current spoons and jigs just don’t attract the fish to bite. Here we use the live bait, bottom fish using pretty heavy lead weights
If you are fishing from a boat along the shoreline thats another story. Surgical tubing rigged with hooks in bright colors works the best for Rockfish,Sea Trout and Bluefish. Toni Asetta Spoons that are highly polished silver with a brite trailer feather also work well. Some diving plugs will work occasionally, but again…live bait rules!
The way I see it, man didn’t put the fish in the ocean. Therefore he should not make people pay for a fishing license to be able to fish. What about poor people who have to can’t afford to pay for fishing licenses and have to catch fish in order to support their family so they won’t starve. Is it fair for them to have to pay for fishing licenses?
I can see your point clearly. Now regardless of any other answer you may have gotten on your question, the bottom line and cold hard facts is this–The government has found many ways to rob it’s citizenry of their hard earned money. A requirement to have a hunting and fishing license is only one of many ways they do this.Know of a single politician that isn’t a crook?
I want to plan a short trip for my fiance in November. Maybe a 3-5 hour deep sea fishing trip either in Naples or Ft. Lauderdale. I would like to hear from you only if you know details and hopefully a referral to a specific company. That area is the only place we can go.
I live just north of Naples, have fished offshore here. Fishing is decent but you have to go so far out, 20 miles +, to get into water even 40′ in depth. Porgies, hogfish, snapper & grouper are typical fare. I fish alot in Islamorada. While the bottom structure differs from Lauderdale, the fish species is similar. You’ll have a greater variety of fish on the east coast and not have to travel so far out to reach decent water depths. I’d say go to Ft. Lauderdale for offshore fishing. Sorry, don’t know charters there. Hope you all have a great time.
Bringing the whole family on a vacation to the Lake of the Ozarks can lead to plenty of good, family fun. There is so much to do and see in the area. Many of the activities are made for families. Of course, if you are looking for specific family fun activities or events in the Lake area, there are many to suit families with members of all ages, even the most finicky. In short, the Lake of the Ozarks has family fun for everyone.
The following locations and activities are just a brief sampling of all that Osage Beach and surrounding areas have to offer families of all shapes and sizes.
Water Parks
If you are looking to get wet and have a splashing good time the Lake of the Ozarks water parks is a great place for family fun. There are two water parks in the Lake Ozarks area.
The first water park, Big Surf Water Park, is an outdoor park offering something for everyone. You can enjoy a wave pool, trips down the space bowl, or a luxurious float down the river. Babies can enjoy their very own tropical splash island and there is an activity pool for older children.
The second water park, Timber Falls Water Park, is an indoor water park located at Tan-Tar-A resort. This water park is modeled to resemble a three story tree house in the Lake Ozarks wilderness. This amazing tree house comes complete with buckets, suspension bridges, water blasters, and web crawls. Additionally, a huge water bucket is constantly turning and drops loads of water on everyone in the tree house every two minutes! This park is amazing to look at and equals tons of family fun for everyone.
Amusement Parks
The Big Shots Amusement Park is owned by Big Surf Water Park. At this great park you will have your chance to enjoy numerous rides and attractions. You will be able to partake in water rides and traditional rides. Some of the more popular rides include bumper boats, Naskart, Go Karts on the Turbo Track, and the Bumper Cars. Smaller children will love the Junior Stock Cars, the Carousel, and the Happy Kangaroo.
Additionally, the Mill Creek Mini-Golf and the Bungee Trampoline are family favorites by both residents and visitors to Lake of the Ozarks.
Family Fun Parks
There are six family fun parks in the area. One of the most popular parks is Miner Mike’s Family Fun Park. Miner Mike’s allows your family to enjoy the Runaway Mine Train roller coaster, the Chuck Wagon Ferris Wheel, the Gold Mine Bumper Cars, and much more. There is also plenty of opportunity to win prizes as you play games of different types. Smaller children will love the Miner Maze, which has tons of balls, cushions, and connected tubing.
The Lake
No discussion of activities is complete without mentioning the Lake itself. With over 1100 miles of shoreline and a main channel running for over 90 miles there is plenty of room for boating, fishing, skiing, or tubing. Anchoring in one of the hundreds of coves to enjoy an afternoon of swimming is a favorite pastime. Some sit by the lake and just relax, always a favorite activity.
This is just a small sample of all of the family activities visitors can partake in when they travel to Lake of the Ozarks. As you can see, this beautiful area has activities indoors and outdoors. From sporting events and outdoor activities to cultural events and educational options, there is plenty to do and see for everyone at Lake of the Ozarks.

Freshwater fishing trips can be a great way to enjoy on weekends. In fact, those weekly trips to the lakes, rivers and streams to enjoy some hours of fishing are a common thing for many individuals, as this sport is considered one of the most exciting as well as fulfilling games among American anglers and fishers.
However, one should be reminded that fishing, while it can be very enjoyable, has its share of hazards and dangers. For example, there is no denying that many of the fly fishing equipments has sharp parts and tools. One example is the fishing hook, which can contribute to accidents happening even if you least expect it. Likewise, we must remember that we cannot control the fishing environment. Sudden change of weather can happen such as the formation of storms or hurricanes which can definitely spoil your freshwater fishing trip.
If you plan to go to a nearby lake or out of state with some family members or friends for some freshwater fishing trips, you must plan days or weeks beforehand as it can really require a lot of preparations before you finally get into your car and head for your fishing destination.
Freshwater fishing trips need much preparation. First of all, make sure that you have all the angling gear and equipment packed – nothing should be missing. Even simple things such as the flashlight should not be forgotten as you will never know when it is going to be handy.
It is advisable to know the weather of the area where you will fish. Definitely it is going to be great help if you are aware of the weather not just days before but on the day of the fishing trip itself. Check on the internet for the local weather conditions.
You might get excited having the warm sun shine brightly as you and your group enjoy some nice fishing moments. You must be aware that hours upon hours of sun exposure can be very damaging to your skin. You can avoid any future skin problems caused by overexposure to the sun due to your fishing hobby by bringing along sun block and using it. Likewise, a hot day can be dehydrating so better bring along a bottle of water to replenish what your body has lost during your sun-drenched fishing session.
One of the worse that can happen is if you get short of bait. No more bait to use can really spoil the fun. If you have a can already running low of worms, you can try avoiding really running out of bait by cutting them into half. This can cause your bait to look smaller. But the important thing is that it can somewhat do some movement still, and can work to lure your fish.
Indeed, freshwater fishing trips can be very relaxing yet exciting at the same time. Still, there are many things that you need to consider such as your group’s safety while on the fishing site. Definitely it is a lot more memorable if you have enjoyed your trip with no bad incident with all safe as you get back home. Surely you just cannot wait to plan for the next trip.
Be prepared to face any scenario to keep your fishing adventure as relaxed as possible. With all these in mind, you could enjoy your fishing trip safely and successfully.

Funny video of my son catching his first fish May 29, 2011. The fish Teddy named “Free” was released back into the water.
My 3 year old son has always loved adventures and has watched videos and clips with people catching fish however, he had never been on a fishing trip until now. Teddy loves all kinds of fish whether they be salmon, large mouth bass, small mouth bass, catfish, goldfish, pike, trout and many others.
On this day while he had his fishing rod in the water a fish bit the fishing line without him knowing and when he pulled up on the fishing line the fish came flying out of the water and scared him.
After this exciting first catch, mommy and daddy just might take three year old Teddy on a fresh water boat charter or trip on another beautiful lake somewhere in Canada or United States. Maybe his second fish will be bigger than this fish.
This is a very funny, cute, adorable you tube video of a 3 year old boy catching his first fish with his dad.
